Unilock Construction in Ontario, CA | Framework Contractors
We provide independent Unilock construction, repair, and re-installation across Ontario. The thing that separates our Unilock work here from everywhere else we service is simple: Ontario’s driveways get worked harder than just about any residential hardscape in the Inland Empire. Unilock sales & service is one arm of what Framework Contractors does, and around the 60/10 warehouse belt, that work usually starts with a truck or trailer that’s been parked on the same paver field for ten years. Call (844) 681-3590 for a free estimate.
Why Ontario Residents Choose Us for Unilock Service
Most of the Unilock calls we run in Ontario are settlement over expansive soil or a failed edge restraint, not a bad product. That’s the honest truth about how these pavers behave in this city. We’ve installed and re-set Unilock systems across the Inland Empire long enough to know which base prep details this ground punishes, and we’ll tell you when a section can be salvaged instead of selling you a full tear-out.
Noel Carbajal, our owner, grew up working stucco patch and porch reroofs with his uncle in Santa Ana, then went through the Construction Technology program at Santiago Canyon College. Three decades later, he’s still the one walking the site before we quote a job. “Build it right the first time – the second time costs twice as much and nobody’s happy.” That’s how we approach every Unilock repair in Montclair and across Ontario.
We source genuine Unilock units when a section needs matching, and we use quality aftermarket polymeric sand and edge restraint where the original spec was the weak link. We’re independent, not manufacturer-affiliated or authorized. That means we fix what’s failing, not what a brand program tells us to replace.

Common Unilock Construction Problems We Solve in Ontario
- Paver field settlement and lippage. Base layers that weren’t moisture-conditioned and compacted in lifts fail fast on Ontario’s expansive soils. You’ll see rocking units and sunken joints after the first hot-dry season followed by a wet winter. This is the single most common Unilock failure we correct in the 91761, 91762, and 91764 corridors.
- Edge restraint failure. Spike or adhesive restraint lifts at driveway and apron transitions, letting the field spread and joints open within a couple of seasons. We see this constantly on the postwar tract streets where trailers and work trucks load the edges.
- Polymeric sand washout. West- and south-facing hardscape in Ontario takes the full brunt of Santa Ana wind events. After a dry wind season followed by winter rain, joint sand is gone and joints read wide and loose. Re-sanding without fixing the edge restraint is a waste of your money.
- Wall and step movement. Sloped south- and east-edge lots in Ontario lose wall blocks when geogrid reinforcement and drainage behind the wall were skimped on at install. The wall didn’t fail. The install did.
- Rutting at the driveway approach. Repeated loaded-wheelbarrow and material-drop traffic chews up the approach transition. On Ontario driveways that double as parking for a box van or trailer, that damage comes faster than anywhere else we work.
Unilock Service in Ontario: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Ontario’s warehouse belt along the 60 and 10 freeway corridors puts a steady stream of owner-operator trucks, box vans, and loaded trailers on residential driveways in the 91761, 91762, and 91764 postwar tract streets. That’s the insight no generic paver page gives you. Driveway paver bases and edge restraint here get loaded far heavier than a typical subdivision elsewhere expects, which means the standard residential base spec isn’t enough. We build Unilock driveway bases in Ontario to a commercial-load standard, because the homeowner parking a Freightliner box van at night isn’t a hypothetical. It’s Tuesday.
We tore out and rebuilt a settled Brussels Block driveway on a postwar tract lot off the 91762 corridor, where a work truck and trailer had been parked on it for years. The field had lipped at the apron transition and the spike edge restraint had pulled. We pulled the units, re-graded, moisture-conditioned and compacted the base in lifts, re-set the edge with proper restraint, and re-sanded with polymeric. The homeowner got a flat, locked-in driveway instead of paying for a new one.
Unilock Models & Products We Service in Ontario
We work on the full Unilock residential lineup, including Upland Unilock service areas: Brussels Block (tumbled, dimensional paver), Beacon Hill (flagstone-look paver), Bristol Valley (tumbled wall block), and Brussels Dimensional / Brussels Fullnose coping and step units. When a section needs blending, we source genuine Unilock units and matching coping. When the original install was the weak link, we use quality aftermarket polymeric sand and edge restraint that outperform what was in the ground. Our default is repair and rebuild on a contained failure. Full replacement only when settlement is widespread or the wall or step system has lost structural reinforcement.

FAQs – Unilock Construction in Ontario
Ontario’s expansive soils swell and shrink through every hot-dry to wet cycle, and any base that wasn’t moisture-conditioned and compacted in lifts will shift. You’ll see rocking units and sunken joints, usually starting at edges and apron transitions. The fix is re-grading and rebuilding the base, not topping it with sand. Call (844) 681-3590 and we’ll tell you if it’s a contained repair or a bigger sub-grade problem.
You can, if the base and edge restraint were built for it. Most residential Unilock driveways in Ontario weren’t. We build bases to a commercial-load standard for exactly this reason, because half the driveways in the 91761 and 91762 corridors are holding a work vehicle. If yours is already failing, the repair usually means pulling the units and rebuilding the base properly.
Dry Santa Ana winds blast the joint sand out of west- and south-facing Unilock surfaces in Ontario, then winter rain washes through and joints read wide and loose. Polymeric sand helps, but only if the edge restraint is intact. Once the edge lets go, re-sanding is a temporary band-aid.
Our default is repair. On a contained failure, we pull the affected units, re-grade and compact the base, re-set the edge, and re-sand. That’s usually a fraction of replacement cost. We recommend full replacement only when settlement is widespread or the wall or step system has lost structural reinforcement. We’ll show you the difference on site.
Yes. Concrete driveways in Ontario run $4,500 – $12,000 and paver driveways $7,000 – $18,000. Pavers cost more up front but repair in sections, which matters when a work truck has been wearing one corner of the apron for years. Concrete doesn’t repair that way. We’ll walk both options against your actual parking situation and give you a straight recommendation. Call (844) 681-3590 to schedule the walk.
