Cambria Construction in Freedom, CA | Framework Contractors

We’re Framework Contractors, and we install and service Cambria quartz across Freedom’s ranch homes and rural parcels. We’re an independent contractor, not authorized or sponsored by Cambria, but we work with their slabs daily and stand behind every install. What makes our Cambria work different here comes down to one thing: Freedom sits on unincorporated Santa Cruz County land, so most countertop jobs ride along with county-permitted projects rather than city-reviewed ones. That changes how we template, measure, and schedule. Call (844) 681-3590 for a free estimate.

Why Freedom Residents Choose Us for Cambria Service

Cambria quartz shows up in a lot of Freedom kitchens, and for good reason. It handles the inland Pajaro Valley heat without fading, it doesn’t need sealing like granite, and it resists staining better than most natural stone. But Cambria only performs as well as the install behind it. We’ve cut, templated, and set these slabs on older mid-century cabinets, on farmhouse islands, on out-of-square ranch counters that have settled over decades, including work with Watsonville Cambria service on similar aging stock. That’s the work most fabricators don’t want to touch.

Noel Carbajal, our owner, has been in construction for almost three decades. He learned framing, concrete, and finish work formally, then spent years on job sites across California learning what actually holds up. When it comes to Cambria in Corralitos and Freedom, he’s the guy who tells you straight whether a slab can be salvaged or needs replacing. Our team uses Cambria-approved adhesives and color-matched seam fillers. We don’t substitute generic epoxy on visible seams. We carry the materials that matter for Freedom’s housing stock, because most of these kitchens need more than a countertop, they need cabinets squared, bases shimmed, and spans properly supported.

Common Cambria Construction Problems We Solve in Freedom

  • Edge chipping at sink and cooktop cutouts. We see this constantly on thin 2cm slabs where the original fabricator left unsupported spans. Older Freedom ranches often had quick remodel jobs done years ago, and the cutouts were never reinforced. The quartz chips at the corners, then worsens with daily use.
  • Seam cracking and separation. Freedom’s inland heat in summer and damp winter months cause older framing to move. When cabinets shift with seasonal moisture swings, the slab set on top takes the stress. Seams open up, and hairline cracks run from the corners.
  • Heat damage near ranges. Cambria quartz contains resin, and that resin scorches at high temperatures. We’ve repaired discoloration where hot pans were set directly on the surface. Unlike granite, you can’t buff out quartz scorch. It’s a replacement or a concealed repair situation.
  • Staining and yellowing on honed finishes. Honed and matte Cambria finishes are less forgiving than polished. Oil, wine, rust from old well water, all of it works into the surface differently. Freedom farmhouse kitchens near outbuildings and agricultural work tend to see more of this than coastal homes do.
  • Unsupported island overhangs. Kitchen islands added to older Freedom homes sometimes carry more overhang than the slab can handle. We’ve reset islands where the Cambria was cantilevered too far without brackets or corbels, and the weight eventually caused stress fractures.

Cambria Service in Freedom: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment

Because most of Freedom sits on unincorporated Santa Cruz County land, a Cambria countertop job here often rides along with a permitted kitchen or addition project reviewed by the county rather than a city building department. That means cabinet and slab dimensions need to match approved plans before we template. If the county approved a kitchen at 12 feet wide and your existing cabinets sit at 12 feet 3 inches, that discrepancy has to get resolved first. We’ve worked through this enough to know that pulling a template too early creates delays. The county permitting reality, plus the well and septic parcels that make up much of 95019, is not what crews hit across the Pajaro River in Watsonville. Watsonville has city inspections, city services, and a more standard renovation flow. Freedom is different, and the Cambria work here has to account for that from day one, unlike the smoother Cambria service in Interlaken.

On an older single-story ranch property near the farmland parcels outside central Freedom, we tore out a sagging laminate top and templated a Cambria Brittanicca island for a kitchen that had been added onto twice. The original cabinets were out of level by nearly half an inch. We shimmed and re-squared the bases before setting the slab, then cut a properly supported sink opening to avoid the edge chipping we see on thin old tops. The homeowner ended up with an island that finally matched the room’s footprint, and we tied the layout back to the county-approved plan with help from our General Contractor in Freedom.

Cambria Models & Products We Service in Freedom

We work with the Cambria lines most Freedom homeowners choose: Brittanicca, including the Warm and Gold variants, Ella, Torquay, and Summerhill. Each has its own veining pattern and finish characteristics, and each behaves a little differently when cut and polished. We template and install all of them, whether you’re replacing a kitchen counter, adding an island, or doing a full cabinet-and-countertop remodel. When it comes to parts, we use Cambria-approved adhesives and color-matched fillers. We keep stock on hand for common Freedom jobs so we’re not waiting on a distributor when your slab needs a seam re-set or an edge repair.

Cambria Service Pricing in Freedom

Cambria work in Freedom is priced by scope, not by square foot alone. A simple countertop replacement on a standard ranch kitchen runs one number; a kitchen island with plumbing and cabinet work underneath runs another. Here’s what you can expect:

Cambria Service Price Range
Countertop Installation (Cambria quartz) $2,000 – $6,500
Kitchen Island Installation $3,000 – $10,000
Cabinet Installation $4,000 – $13,000
Backsplash Installation $800 – $2,500
Small Kitchen Remodel $9,000 – $20,000

What drives the final number: the condition of your existing cabinets, whether we’re doing structural support work, and whether the job is part of a county-permitted remodel. A free estimate from us includes measurements, a material review, and a straight answer on whether your existing cabinets can carry new Cambria. Call (844) 681-3590 and we’ll come out to Freedom and look.

FAQs – Cambria Construction in Freedom

Can you install a Cambria countertop as part of a county-permitted kitchen addition in Freedom? Yes, we can. We coordinate with the county review process in Freedom by matching our template to your approved plans before we cut. That means your slab dimensions, island footprint, and cabinet layout all line up with what Santa Cruz County signed off on. Call (844) 681-3590 and we’ll walk you through how it works.

Why is my Cambria top chipping around the sink in my older Freedom home? Chipping around the sink almost always comes down to an unsupported cutout. Older Freedom ranch homes often had countertops installed quickly, and the fabricator didn’t reinforce the thin edges around the sink opening. Daily use stresses those edges until they chip. The fix is either a professional edge repair with color-matched filler or, if the slab is compromised, replacing that section. Call (844) 681-3590 for an inspection.

Does Freedom’s inland heat affect my Cambria quartz? Freedom’s summer heat is real, but Cambria’s stone content holds up well to temperature swings. The issue isn’t the heat itself, it’s the resin component when direct heat hits the surface. Hot pans set straight on the quartz can scorch the resin, and that discoloration can’t be buffed out like it can on granite. Use trivets, and call (844) 681-3590 if you’re seeing discoloration near your range.

Can you reface my existing cabinets and keep my Cambria countertops? Yes. We reface cabinets in Freedom homes and can work around existing Cambria that’s still in good shape. The key is checking whether the cabinets are level and stable enough to keep carrying the slab. If they’re shifting, we address that before any cabinet work starts. Call (844) 681-3590 to discuss your kitchen.

Is a Cambria island worth adding to a small farmhouse kitchen in 95019? In most Freedom farmhouse kitchens, yes. A properly supported Cambria island adds work surface and storage without taking up the floor space a full remodel would. The critical part is the support underneath. We’ve seen too many islands fail because the overhang wasn’t engineered. Call (844) 681-3590 and we’ll tell you if your floor plan can carry one.
